Mainstream actor Seth Rogen, who appeared in Judd Apatow's Knocked Up and the recent Zack and Miri Make a Porno, is planning to make a porn-based comedy series for pay-cable outlet Showtime with his production partner Evan Goldberg.
The as-yet-untitled show will be about "three twentysomethings who learn about life and love while running a pornography shop," according to mainstream trade paper Variety.
Just a guess, but I'll bet the pitch meeting involved the phrase "Cheers in a porn store."
And come to think of it, Cheers was produced by Paramount, which is a division of CBS Corp. — same as Showtime.
So, if you thought porn was a small, incestuous world — get a load of mainstream.
Rogen and Goldberg will be executive producers. Matthew Bass, who is credited as an assistant to Rogen and Goldberg on Pineapple Express and Superbad, will write the script and be a co-executive producer.
XFANZ will keep an eye on this as it develops.
